On October 22-23, the 6th International Mining and Metallurgical Forum of Uzbekistan (UIMF 2024) took place in Tashkent as part of the 18th International Exhibition "Mining, Metallurgy, and Metalworking – MiningMetals Uzbekistan 2024," supported by the Ministry of Mining and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

NMMC acted as the general partner of the annual forum. This year, the forum was held under the theme: "Regional and International Cooperation in Mining and Industrial Sectors: Important Steps and Trajectories of Progress," highlighting the significance of the event and promoting regional and international cooperation. The event gathered over 50 speakers and more than 250 delegates from 15 countries around the world.

As part of the forum, NMMC conducted a special panel session titled "Women in Mining: Creating Opportunities." This session focused on global trends in the industry, the increasing participation of women in the mining sector, the leadership qualities they demonstrate to unlock their potential, and their integration into the industry. Notably, representatives from leading industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan and international companies, such as NMMC, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Company (AGMK), Uzmetkombinat, Uzcopper, International Women in Mining (IWiM), and DMT Group, participated in this session. Various programs and initiatives aimed at empowering women, as well as training and mentoring, were discussed during the session.

In August 2024, NMMC established a partnership with the IWiM and became the first partner company from Uzbekistan to join this organization.

Sabokhat Nazarova, Head of the Women’s Community at NMMC, noted:

Our collaboration with the IWiM organization has already established important connections with companies in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. This regional cooperation strengthens our role in the global Women in Mining movement, paving the way for greater gender equality and expanded leadership opportunities for women in the mining sector across Central Asia.”
